Regularisation Scheme for Long-Term Undocumented Migrants

On Friday 3rd December, the Minister for Justice and Equality introduced a scheme to allow people who have no immigration status in Ireland to apply for legal residence.

The Minister confirmed that the scheme will launch for applications in early January 2022. The Scheme is designed to facilitate people who have been undocumented in Ireland for at least 4 years at the commencement of the Scheme, or for at least 3 years for families with children under the age of 18.

An undocumented person is one from outside the EU or EEA and does not currently have permission to be in Ireland. This includes people who may have arrived with permission or legal residence but that has since expired.

The scheme will also apply to persons with International Protection Applications and Deportation Orders or letters of intention that such Order may be sought by the State (Section 3 process).

Feeney & Corcoran Solicitors LLP welcome the launch of this long overdue scheme. Our service will ensure you receive the best legal and practical advice throughout the application process. We will carry out a preliminary document review and will advise you on any further documentation that may support your application. We will then prepare your application and advise you fully throughout the process. This will help reduce any potential of an unsuccessful application.
